Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to Brannoxtown
Community National School!
Welcome to Brannoxtown Community National School! We opened as a Community National School in September 2018 under patronage of the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB). Our school is located about 10 minutes drive from Naas and 5 minutes from Kilcullen. We are guided by four values (which children chose): Respect, Teamwork, Effort and Ambition. Brannoxtown CNS is a happy place where we support all children to grow in competence and confidence so they can flourish as learners and individuals. Our school is at the heart of the community and we value strong communications with parents and community members.
We are enrolling across all classes. If you’d like to inquire about enrolling your child(ren), email us at: brannoxtowncns@kwetb.ie. You can find out about our learning adventures here and by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Dear Principal,
As the cold weather continues, the HSE public health division has asked for your help in sharing the following important information with your school community:
- Flu is circulating widely in the community, with children being significantly affected.
- Please remind families that anyone who is unwell should remain at home to help prevent the spread of infection.
- Cough and sneeze etiquette, along with regular hand hygiene, are essential to limiting the spread of illness.
- The free nasal flu vaccine for children aged 2–17 is still available through local pharmacies and GPs.

Playball Coaching Programme (14/01/25)
Dear families,
We are delighted to announce that we have booked Playball, a sport and movement coaching programme, to work with all classes for a 10-week block. Playball coaches start with us this Friday, the 17th of January. While some of you may be familiar with Playball birthday parties , Playball also provides a superb and age appropriate P.E. curriculum to schools which comes highly recommended.
Trained professional coaches will work with our pupils to introduce children to a wide range of sports and support children to engage confidently in P.E. Playball fosters a love of sport so that all pupils can form a positive relationship with sports and develop active, fun and healthy lifelong habits.
We are incredibly grateful to our Parents’ Association who have offered to subsidise a portion of the programme. The remaining cost of Playball per child is €3.00 per week and €30 in total. This can be paid weekly or in full. Tomorrow, all families will receive a link on Aladdin for Playball e-payments.
We are very excited to welcome the Playball coaches to our school this Friday as we know it is going to be an incredibly enriching and invigorating experience for all our pupils.
Warm regards,
The BCNS Team

Science Week Visit from Dr Mehmood (13/11/24)
To coincide with Science Week, we welcomed Dr. Mustafa Mehmood, a parent of one our pupils to visit our classes to teach us about CPR: Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. His workshop was engaging, hands-on and incredibly valuable for all of our pupils. The children learned about the physiology of CPR, how to care for a person who is unresponsive and how to administer CPR. The children put their learning into practice on a model brought in by Dr. Mehmood and on their own teddies. Finally, our pupils were invited to ask Dr. Mehmood questions about his work and caught a glimpse of what it is like to work in an Emergency Department. We are so grateful to have participated in this workshop – thank you Dr. Mehmood.

Halloween Fun!! (24/10/24)
We had an incredible day here Brannoxtown CNS and it was a joy to see the array of costumes that came through our doors. A huge well done to our Junior and Senior Infants who wowed us with a spooktacular performance of Oíche Shamhna and The Witch!!
Our Senior Room pupils set up Hallowe’en stations both indoors and outdoors for the school. On the yard, we had Spider Web Shoot Out, Slime Splat, Eye-Bowling and Spider Web Limbo. Inside, we had the Witch’s Lab, Flour Dunk, Candy Apples and Slime Stations!! The children had a ball and we ate so proud of the leadership and care shown by our 5th and 6th class pupils.
After a busy morning, all classes had the chance to wind down and enjoy a movie together with some popcorn and pumpkin seeds to munch on!
After what has been an action packed first term, BCNS pupils have certainly earned a fun and restful midterm break! We look forward to seeing you all back on Monday the 4th of November!
