Industrial Action: Important Information for Parents (01/10/2026)

Oct 12, 2026

Dear Parents,

From the end of September, public service unions, including those representing teachers and SNAs, are taking industrial action as part of a national dispute in relation to public service pay. This means that some staff will not be carrying out certain duties outside their normal working hours.
Core teaching and learning during the school day will continue as normal.

What does this mean for our school?

From Monday 5th October:

  • School gates will open at 8:50am.
  • Children should not be dropped to school before 8:50am, as we will no longer be in a position to provide the additional 10 minutes of supervision from 8:40–8:50am.
  • The school day and teaching and learning will otherwise continue as normal.
  • Some activities outside normal school hours, such as staff training, may also be affected.

On Wednesday, the 14th of October, schools nationwide are likely to close for the day as part of a planned strike. We’ll confirm exactly what this means for our school as soon as we have full details.

We appreciate that any school closure may cause disruption for families. We encourage members of our school community to contact their local representatives and ask that the Government engages with the public service unions in an effort to avoid school closures.

We will keep you updated as further information becomes available.

Many thanks for your understanding and support.
